Sunday 18th April
- "WCR40" - the 40th Anniversary of the World Cup Rally, Heritage Motor
Centre, Gaydon "WCR40 Commemorates the longest and most ambitious event of it's kind to date, the World Cup Rally left Wembley Stadium for the 16,000 mile, 6 week trip to Mexico City on 19th April 1970. Almost 100 cars, spanning a variety of works teams and private entries, would follow a challenging route of road sections and special stages from London to Lisbon then, by sea passage to South America, rejoining the battle in Rio de Janerio for the journey to Mexico City. Just 23 of the original starters would make it to the finish line. WCR40 plans to stage a reunion of all the surviving cars, and as many of drivers, mechanics and rally officials as possible." Entrance to the outside area is free and reduced priced tickets to the Centre are available. More information see PDF file (1.6Mb) or contact Alan Crussell on 01494 711159 or info@wcr40.org.uk |

Sunday 25th April - "Drive it Day" “DiD” started some years ago and is an initiative by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) to encourage owners of (roadworthy) classic vehicles all over the country, to use them on this day and to be seen by the public, so as to raise the profile of the classic car movement. Hundreds, possibly even thousands of events are held nationwide by just about every classic vehicle club. “DiD” is traditionally held on the nearest Sunday to St George’s Day. We, The Chiltern Group have planned a run out for the day, starting at The Bucks Railway Centre at Quainton, visiting and the National Motorcycle Museum at Bickenhill and returning to Banbury. See the route (5Mb PDF file) and instructions (PDF file), also How to Find Bucks Railway Centre (PDF file) and Map of National Motorcycle Museum (PDF file) Contact me with any questions or concerns. Saturday 12th June
- RAF Brize Norton Families Day Once again, we have been invited to display some cars at the also families day. Space will be limited as the MOD is still redeveloping and renovating the facilities, so it's important that you contact Geoff Wooldridge as soon as possible to register your interest. As this is a working military base, there will be some security issues to be complied with that also need organising. If you would like to take your car, talk to Geoff right now ! Geoff Wooldridge on 01491 388857 or email Latest: Friday 21st May 2010 We're sorry but due the the ongoing construction work at the base, and the resulting pressure on numbers, we have been unable to secure a space this year. |

Sunday 11th July - KVG Summer BBQ "Hi Peter I know some of your group are joining in on 4th July, but I would also like to extend an invite to the following Sunday 11th July, when we hold our club BBQ. Very informal event, held at Snelsmore Common just outside Newbury on the B4494 – Newbury – Wantage Road. We start from 10:00am, and cook into the afternoon, so you can arrive and/or depart whenever. Just bring your food/drink/chairs etc. Very laid back day, probably a walk around the common, or to Donnington Castle if you wish, or laze about. We usually have a few games – rounders, football, or whatever turns up on the day. Any members who wish to join in will be welcome. Regards, Michael

25-26th
September - Kop Hill Climb Centenary, Princes Risborough Planning ahead a bit, you should note that 25-26th September is the Kop Hill Climb Centenary, near Princes Risborough. This event was successfully revived last year and celebrates one of the most popular speed hill climbs in the country for motorcycles and motorcars in the period between 1910 and 1925. Kop Hill was one of several hill climbs in the Chilterns along with Aston Clinton. It was a major event on the motor sports calendar and many famous names, such as Malcolm Campbell, Raymond Mays, Henry Segrave and Archie Frazer Nash had runs up the hill. For this year, a special area in the paddock will be set aside for pre-registered classic cars and bikes. We have taken a space, together with the Triumph 2000/2500/PI Register, to put on a show of the Triumph marque. There will also be the traders and exhibitors you would expect to find at larger classic car shows. You will need to register by going to www.kophillclimb.org.uk/newindows/classicregulations.html. Once you have accepted the terms and conditions you will go to a new page and there you will find a drop down menu “Please choose individual or club”, click TR Register and follow the instructions. Our cars are ineligible to run on the hill as they were not built before 1925 !! Also, please let David or Alan know that you have registered so that they can plan the space available. The event is being organised in aid of local charities. Our part in the show is being put together by David Broomhead and Alan Crussell and they would appreciate your support.
